Funded and supported by our passionate community, we provide vital resources and support to empower our most vulnerable neighbors to overcome hardships and build better futures through our core services: free Medical Care, Life Skill Training, Education Programs, Safe Shelter provided directly to those who need it most.

We had the honor of hosting Raquel Teran, a community leader and former AZ Senator, and Tesha Hodge, Phoenix City Council Member, at our Phoenix Learning Center. The kids had a wonderful time interacting with our special guests. We are incredibly proud of our team of dedicated volunteer teachers who are building strong bonds with our students and empowering them to overcome any educational challenges.

The Rt. Hon. Hamza Yousaf delivered inspiring remarks at a high-profile Sahara Programs event held in Chandler, Arizona, on November 9, 2025, where he served as the Chief Guest. Recognizing the positive global impact of our mission, Mr. Yousaf expressed his desire to see Sahara Programs expand beyond every state and into every country. He praised Sahara’s commitment to universal service, noting that the organization is for everyone—and proudly provides essential services like domestic violence shelters and free healthcare for all who need them. Sahara Programs Appoints Mr. Fazal Mumtaz as Chief Operating Officer, Celebrates Community Support and Growth

Sahara Programs has the honor to announce the appointment of Mr. Fazal Mumtaz as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective 8/9/2025. This strategic appointment was formally celebrated at a vibrant community gathering held recently in the Washington D.C, underscoring Sahara’s deep commitment to community engagement and marking the launch of the new Sahara Programs Washington D.C. chapter. The event, attended by over 75 distinguished guests, featured inspiring speakers and widespread commendation for Mr. Mumtaz’s distinguished record of service. Attendees expressed profound admiration for the remarkable growth of Sahara’s programs and the thousands of individuals served in just over a year, signaling a robust upward trajectory for the organization. Sahara Programs extends its deepest gratitude to the Board of Directors for their support and to Dr. Faisal Cheema for his generous hospitality in hosting this significant reception.

Sahara Programs' Inaugural Ceremony

We’re thrilled to share the success of our Free Clinic grand opening on March 21st, 2025! We were honored to be joined by Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, State Senator Lauren Kuby, Chandler City Council Senior Member Matt Orlando, and former State Senator & Community Activist Raquel Teran. Our guest speakers emphasized the critical need for local government and community collaborative-driven efforts in the current environment and expressed appreciation for Sahara Services and their impact.
We were honored to welcome Dr. Anil Harrison, Chair – Department of Medicine at Midwestern University. His visit prior to the Sahara Free Clinic’s grand opening was greatly appreciated. He thanked Sahara for taking the initiative in providing much-needed medical services to the disadvantaged community and discussed partnering opportunities on this great cause. Thank you, Midwestern School of Medicine!
Congratulations to our Executive Director, Salina Imam! She has been awarded the Certificate of Recognition by the City of Chandler, presented by Mayor Kevin Hartke, in recognition of her role in the Domestic Violence Commission. This achievement also demonstrates Sahara’s ongoing commitment and dedication to providing vital services to domestic violence victims.
