"There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward—Khalil Gibran."

Founded in 2024, Sahara is a community-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit actively serving underserved communities in Arizona. Funded and supported by our passionate community, we provide vital resources and support to empower our most vulnerable neighbors to overcome hardships and build better futures through our core services: free Life Skill Training, Education Programs, Safe Shelter, and Medical Care delivered directly to those who need it most.
We’re thrilled to share the success of our Free Clinic grand opening on March 21st, 2025! We were honored to be joined by Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, State Senator Lauren Kuby, Chandler City Council Senior Member Matt Orlando, and former State Senator & Community Activist Raquel Teran. Our guest speakers emphasized the critical need for local government and community collaborative-driven efforts in the current environment and expressed appreciation for Sahara Services and their impact.
We were honored to welcome Dr. Anil Harrison, Chair – Department of Medicine at Midwestern University. His visit prior to the Sahara Free Clinic’s grand opening was greatly appreciated. He thanked Sahara for taking the initiative in providing much-needed medical services to the disadvantaged community and discussed partnering opportunities on this great cause. Thank you, Midwestern School of Medicine!
March 2025: We had the honor of hosting Raquel Teran, a community leader and former AZ Senator, and Tesha Hodge, Phoenix City Council Member, at our Phoenix Learning Center. The kids had a wonderful time interacting with our special guests. We are incredibly proud of our team of dedicated volunteer teachers who are building strong bonds with our students and empowering them to overcome any educational challenges.
Congratulations to our Executive Director, Salina Imam! She has been awarded the Certificate of Recognition by the City of Chandler, presented by Mayor Kevin Hartke, in recognition of her role in the Domestic Violence Commission. This achievement also demonstrates Sahara’s ongoing commitment and dedication to providing vital services to domestic violence victims.
